Solve the actual problem
Start with the work, the customer and the outcome. Every flourish has to earn its place.
Founder-led · Missoula-born · Ready to run
Awkward Dog is a Missoula software and creative studio for useful products, serious systems and ideas that deserve more character than the default setting.
Tommy Evans · Founder
Tommy Evans is a third-generation Montanan, born and raised in Missoula. His background crosses software, broadcast technology, operational leadership, design and product development.
That range is the point. Awkward Dog approaches digital work from both sides: what the system must reliably accomplish and what the person using it should feel, understand and be able to do.
Clients work directly with the founder responsible for the strategy and the build. There is no handoff from a sales pitch to a disconnected production line.
How the studio thinks
Start with the work, the customer and the outcome. Every flourish has to earn its place.
Functional products can still feel alive, specific and unmistakably connected to the business behind them.
Clarity, performance, edge cases and small interactions are part of the product—not cleanup after the fact.
Research is labeled research. Work in development is labeled in development. Credibility compounds.
Direct collaboration keeps intent intact and makes it easier to move when the right answer becomes clear.
Move quickly without becoming careless. Ambition works best when it has operational discipline underneath it.
One point of view · Several outlets
The common thread is not a platform or an industry. It is the instinct to notice what should work better and make the answer tangible.
Early broadcast technology R&D exploring more resilient approaches to real operational problems.
Awkward Dog’s own iOS games, ambient tools and useful oddities built with commercial ambition.
Specialized software, apps, automation and distinctive websites for organizations with real work to improve.
Missoula is home
Awkward Dog intends to build category-defining products from Missoula while helping nearby businesses use better digital tools. The standard is the same either way: useful, distinctive and ready for real life.
