Awkward Dog Launches in Missoula to Build Mobile Apps, Roku Experiences and Custom Software

Founder-led Montana company offers app development, connected-TV and platform publishing support, modern web products and specialized business software.

Awkward Dog Design LLC has launched in Missoula as a founder-led software company developing mobile apps, connected-TV experiences, modern web platforms and purpose-built business software. Founded by Tommy Evans, the company can take digital products from early concept and interface design through development, testing and platform-submission support.

Awkward Dog develops for iOS, Android, Roku and the web. Its capabilities include consumer apps, mobile games, streaming experiences, websites and web applications, internal business systems, workflow automation and specialized tools for organizations whose needs do not fit standard software.

“Montana businesses and creators should not have to send every ambitious technology idea somewhere else,” Evans said. “Awkward Dog exists to bring serious technical capability, practical problem-solving and a little personality to projects that deserve more than an off-the-shelf template.”

Evans brings experience in broadcast technology, engineering, operations, software development and creative production to the company. That background shapes a practical approach: understand how people actually work, identify where existing tools fall short and build around the real need.

Alongside select client work, Awkward Dog is developing original products under its own name. Current work includes consumer apps, original mobile games, broadcast workflow tools, connected-TV concepts and research into software-based emergency communications. Research-stage projects are not represented as certified or commercially deployed systems.

The company is seeking a small number of collaborations with businesses, broadcasters, creators and organizations planning an app, streaming channel, web platform, automation or specialized internal tool. Awkward Dog will remain rooted in Missoula while building products intended for audiences well beyond Montana.
